"It smells like burnt hair and mothballs."

- Riff Bro Jordan during "3 Ninjas"

“3 Ninjas” with Riff Brothers Commentary is now available!

KICKin' it old school!

After a long detour into Youtube country, the Riff Brothers are back to bring you a blast from (maybe) your past! After completing boot camp, Riff Bro Chris came home for a weekend and we recorded this commentary for an old childhood fave of ours, namely 3 NINJAS! It is still a fun, family friendly movie, but man is it ever goofy!

There was a lot to riff on here folks, and we took full advantage. No one, not even the Riff Brothers themselves, were safe from the onslaught of off-color jokes, bad puns, and scathing insults! The final result is one of (I think) our better offerings, and as always, this is available via bittorent over at Tracker3! (CLICK HERE to go to the download page!)

If you’re not too sure about downloading this Riff Brothers release (pfft, like you’re even gonna give it a second thought), then check out our latest highlight reel (available in HD!) below:

Now, you’re probably wondering… what does the future hold for the Riff Brothers? Well we’ve got a lot cooking actually. Riff Brothers Jordan and “Silent Steve” are planning on shooting a Riff Brothers’ Top Ten List soon (featuring our TOP TEN FAVORITE HILARIOUSLY RANDOM MOVIE MOMENTS). Riff Brothers Greg and Jordan are headed to Monster-Mania Con in March and will be bringing a video camera to chronicle their adventures. That should make for a good time to say the least!

Also, we are working on getting a totally bitchin’ poster/t-shirt design (and logo) made up, and we’ll be gearing up to create and sell some legit Riff Bro DVDs in the future, featuring our brand of commentary for various public domain movies. Much of this is still in the “hey wouldn’t it be cool if…?” stage, but if our Facebook page gets more likes, and we manage to build up our following significantly in the next few months, I think all of this will def become a reality!

So share our highlight reels and riffed movies, spread our gospel, and help us get one step closer to becoming a household name.

Oh, and a huge thanks to all of the fans who keep us going. (All several dozen of you!) Because of the positive feedback and unwavering support of folks like Newt Wallen and Andy Champion, we’ve continued to plug along and hope to build our ragtag group of film-riffing friends into something to be proud of. You guys rock!

Underbelly with Riff Brothers’ commentary! Check it out!

A few weeks back we asked the co-creators of internet show UNDERBELLY, if we could riff on one of their videos. After mulling it over, they said… yes?! Believe it or not, yeah!

So this past weekend, Riff Brothers Chris and Jordan met up on Skype and recorded a commentary for the classic “MAILING OUR DICKS” episode of Underbelly, in which the cast members openly ranted about some of the stuff they hate in pop culture.

Naturally, during the recording process (and editing process) things went horribly wrong. It took us three tries to record the commentary, and still Riff Bro Chris sounds like he called in his jokes via a military field telephone. If that weren’t enough, the laptop that we edit all our stuff on crashed when attacked by a vicious Trojan virus.

In the end though, we persevered and got the rough, but listenable video up onto Youtube. It’s available in high-def and you can watch it below. CLICK HERE to watch the original un-riffed version of the video.

Thanks again to all the guys and gals at Underbelly, especially writer/actor Newt Wallen, and co-creators Justin Silverman and Shawn Caple. You guys are the best! Hope 2012 is as good to you as it has been to us.

Up next…. the long-delayed/awaited “3 NINJAS” commentary! Stay tuned riff fans!

Life and Death of a Pumpkin, with Riff Bros. Commentary!

Days after I posted the first riffed episode of The League of Science (SUBSCRIBE!), I contacted the folks over at Blame Society Films, asking if we could post our riffed version of their classic Halloween short, “The Life and Death of a Pumpkin,” (watch the original version HERE), which was part of our Riff Bros. Halloween Special back in 2010 (check out the highlight reel HERE).

Watch as a helpless pumpkin is picked from his patch, carted off, stabbed, mutilated, gutted, and tortured until he receives the sweet release of death from drunken pumpkin smashers. (Whoops! Spoilers! My bad!) So give our latest a look below (you may need to turn up your volume, sorry), watch it in HD if you feel so inclined, and be sure to share it, like it, comment on it, and subscribe!

A huge thanks to the gents over at Blame Society Films for giving us the OK, and also a big thanks to the folks at Underbelly (particularly Newt Wallen, easily our biggest fan) for giving us permission to riff on an episode of their awesome web series. Stay tuned for that in another week or two.

Riff Brother Jordan out!

The League of Science Episode 2 with Riff Bros. Commentary is now online!

Derek Huey and friends get a kinder verbal lashing in this second riffed episode of THE LEAGUE OF SCIENCE. This time around, Dr. Devokees and the insidious and mysterious (and “foul-mouthed Sultan of Sign Language”) The Shape, use the classic game, ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS as a template for their latest experiment. Needless to say, it doesn’t go well. Check out the riffed version of their video below:

We still have two more League of Science episodes in reserve and will also being doing some crossover work with Blame Society Films and Underbelly, two Youtube giants who saw fit to allow us to riff on some of their videos! (Thanks guys!)

Stay tuned for more new (high-def & 3-D?!) videos on our channel, and get excited because 2012 is going to be a huge year for us!

Give your Youtube video a “riff-job.”

I’ve mentioned this a handful of times, but The Riff Bros. are more than willing to riff on Youtube content. In fact we’ve already done it, and received critical acclaim for it. (Or rather… we’ve gotten enough likes and positive feedback from people to think that we’ve found a new niche to fill in the online world.) If you have a Youtube video that YOU created and want us to riff on, contact me, Riff Brother Jordan at jordzilla@echoes.net. Give us permission to repost your video with our (completely unscripted and usually fun-but-cruel) commentary and we’ll do the rest!

So step right up and get yourself a “riff-job” today… and walk away with a smile. And please be sure to spread this around the web; share it on the Facebook and the Twitter!

By the way, this in no way means that we will be limiting ourselves to Youtube content. We’re gonna keep chugging along with movie commentaries as well!

The Riff Brothers take on The League of Science

HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR RIFF FANS! As we continue to try and carve out a small niche on the web and build up a fanbase, the following video is proof that we’re making baby steps in our quest. Fellow Youtuber and League of Science series creator Derek Huey contacted us offered up the first episode of his no-budget web-series for the Riff Bros. treatment. Check out the video below and enjoy!

Funny story, our first go at recording the commentary for episode one was great and fairly even-tempered… but I forgot to hit record. The result was a really disgruntled Riff Bro Chris who took his annoyance out on poor David Sitbon, who plays the lackey to the mysterious evil mad scientist known as The Shape. Sorry Dave….

Also, since this crossover was pretty much well-received, we will be doing the next THREE episodes of League of Science and we’re also sending out an invite to anyone else out there who wants us to make fun of your short films, web-isodes, etc. Just send me a request at jordzilla[at]echoes[dot]net and we’ll be in business!

In other Riff Brothers news: We’ve got four feature-length commentaries that I have yet to release for “3 Ninjas,” “The Gate,” “Conan the Destroyer,” and “Return of the Dragon.”

Riff Brothers Jordan and Ryan are both engaged!

Riff Bro Chris is back in Ford Hood, TX and will be deployed to Kuwait in another week or two. Good luck bro!

That’s all the news that is fit to print. Stay tuned for more Riff Brothers fun as 2012 continues!

Silver Bullet with Riff Bros. Commentary NOW AVAILABLE!

Yes you are reading that correctly folks! Our Silver Bullet commentary is now uploading to the web, so you best get over to Tracker3 right now and start downloading! If you’re not sure that you’re ready to download this bad boy, then give our highlight reel a quick look:

New giveaway! Win a Riff Bros. commentary of your choice!

Hey all, just wanted to let you know that we’re still around these parts though our riffing team is currently scattered across the globe. Riff Bro Chris has finished his Advanced Individual Training in the U.S. Army and is currently going through jump school in Fort Benning, Georgia since he signed up with Airborne (good luck bro), Adam is in college (commuting so he’s kind of around), Ryan is back on his throne at Charging Star Comics up in Johnson City, NY, and Greg is skulking about somewhere in the mysterious mountains of Appalachia. And me? I’m still here in front of this computer when I’m not at work.

Anyway, in our quest for internet dominance (which is going slowly) we would like to hit 100 likes on our Facebook page before the year ends. So, to try and get us to that number, we are giving away a Riff Bros. commentary of your choice to the hundredth person to like our Facebook page! Also, that person will have the power to choose a film for us to riff on! Also also…. they will have eternal glory.

So, CLICK HERE to like us on the Facebook, then share our page with friends and try and get us to that magic number BEFORE New Year’s Day!

And stay tuned for our commentary for SILVER BULLET is currently in the pre-production stages and should be uploaded to the web within the next two weeks.

Quest for Fire AND Riff Bros. Halloween Special available for download!

A tale of loss, love, discovery and gross caveman sex!

I’ve been teasing you riff fans with “Quest for Fire” for a few weeks now and I’m happy to say that it is now being uploaded over at Tracker 3! We (Jordan, Chris, and Adam) recorded this late one night after riding a natural high after seeing Rifftrax Live: Reefer Madness and it shows. We start off strong… then as the two-hour caveman epic drags on, we start to lose steam. Adam eventually passes out (as does Chris at one point) but we manage to pull it together and finish the film! In my opinion, its not really our best work, but there’s plenty of zingers as the following highlight reel shall prove:

Happy Halloween from The Riff Brothers!

Also now available over at Tracker 3 is our fabled Halloween Special from 2010. Riff Brothers Chris and Jordan premiered it last year at a Halloween party where it earned a lukewarm reception. Hopefully now it will get the love it so truly deserves. Riff Brothers Jordan and Chris struggle through 80 minutes of Halloween safety videos, cartoons, trailers, music videos, and short films, ending with our infamous commentary for Michael Jackson’s THRILLER! Check out our highlight reel to see if you’re ready to make the commitment to download this bad boy:

Enjoy the new commentaries and stay tuned for more Riff Brothers goodness as the year comes to a close. Have a Happy and safe Halloween everyone!

And the winner is….

It’s been several weeks since I started spreading the word about the Riff Bros. giveaway and only one brave soul dared to enter (even though there were prizes for two runner-up winners). Chris Garrison of Evansville, Indiana will be getting riffed versions of “Night of the Lepus” and “Super Mario Bros. – The Movie” as well as the “legendary,” never-before-released and rarely-mentioned RIFF BROS. HALLOWEEN SPECIAL that we put together in 2010.  Congrats Chris! Enjoy the DVDs and have a Happy Halloween!

In other Riff Bro news, later tonight I will be releasing “Quest for Fire” with embedded commentary, out onto the web, along with the Riff Bros. Halloween Special. They’ll be exclusively uploading through Tracker 3 as they contain content that is not considered safe by Cinemageddon.

With the release of these two commentaries, that leaves me with a mere four other untouched commentary tracks to work with:

  • Game of Death (Jordan and Chris tackle this boredom-inducing Bruce Lee classic. Chris actually passes out during this; luckily he did not awaken to discover his face covered in magic marker.)
  • The Gate (Jordan and “Silent Steve” grew up with this epic tale of kids battling demonic forces. This commentary wasn’t done out of anger, but out of love.)
  • Silver Bullet (Jordan and Chris sit through this movie and wish that Gary Busey was their uncle.)
  • 3 Ninjas (Jordan and Chris secretly recorded this in an undisclosed location at an undisclosed date and time. Our apologies to the spirit of Victor Wong, not only because of this movie, but because of some of the stuff we said while watching this movie.)

Finally, Riff Bro Chris is coming home from the Army in December for the holidays. His Christmas wish is that all of the Riff Brothers gather together for one night and record a new commentary, and we’ll do our damnedest to make that happen. The movie he wants us to riff on? CONAN THE DESTROYER!

Check back soon for info on downloading those two aforementioned commentaries and make sure to LIKE us on Facebook and share us with your friends!
